Onam is a harvest festival celebrated as per Malayalam calendar’s first month known as Chingam that is in August or September. It is celebrated in Kerala in India. It marks the renowned King Mahabali’s return to Kerala whom people admired a lot. It is a ten days festival celebrated with joy and enthusiasm. People wear new clothes, exchange gifts with each other, decorate their homes to welcome the king, perform dance of Thiruvathirakali, play games, organize snake boat races, sports and prepare variety of dishes.
