How To Protect Yourself Using Orkut
Here are five things that could expose you and five simple tips for prevention:
(1) Your Profile on Google!
It is not commonly known that the search giant Google can show the profile of an Orkut user in its search results. It means anyone, after entering in a few details of an account can see the whole profile. So, to stop anyone from doing that, there are a couple of steps to be followed:
On the left corner of your profile is a tab that reads Settings. Click on the tab and then navigate to Privacy. There will be an option like this:
Here as highlighted in the picture, just click on hide information and you are safer!
(2) Unwanted Friend Requests
If there are a lot of people sending you requests to be their friend, and you don’t wish to receive them, then here is what you can do:
Again just click on the tab Privacy that comes up when one clicks on Settings, and look for the following option:
Go for the option that suits you best.
(3) Disabling Photo Tagging Option
If one of your friend has a photo of yours then any of his/her friends can attach identification to that photograph, this is called tagging. Adding a tag to a photograph means identifying a person from a photo and giving a link to that person’s profile so that when anyone clicks on that tag, he or she is redirected to your profile.
It is again under the Privacy tag, there is an option of enable photo tagging. Just unclick that.
(4) Deciding who can watch your profile?
If you don’t want every one visiting your account to read your profile or watch your photographs or write anything in your scrapbook, then here is what you can do:
On the privacy page again there is an option of allowing the contents to be accessed by.
View Scrapbook means who can see what is written in your scrapbook?
Write in Scrapbook = who can write in your scrapbook.
Photos = who can see your photographs
Videos = who can watch the videos on your Orkut profile
How to protect your E-mail addresses?
E-mail is something personal and if it falls into wrong hands can be hacked by a hacker who can block your Orkut account. There is a way out of this too. Again in the Privacy page you will find an icon like this one:
Just choose the second option and you are safer!
How to upload multiple pictures on to your Orkut album?
It is not really a complicated process. There are some simple steps that one must keep in mind.
Step 1:
Just go to your Orkut account i.e. login, and click on the tab “photos” in the column on the left side of the screen.
Step 2:
Now, a bigger tab is visible which reads `create new album. Just click on it.
Step 3:
(a) A kind of application form will be visible on the monitor screen. It asks for ‘Title’; here you may write what you would like to collectively call those photos (album).
(b) Next follows another blank box with ‘Description’ written against it; here you may put in some additional information, for example when the photographs were taken, or what you feel about them etc.
(c) At the end are three options: ‘everyone’, ‘all my friends’ and ‘only selected friends’. Clicking on ‘everyone’ will allow anybody using Orkut to see those photographs. Similarly, if you wish that only your friends appreciate your photographs, you can opt for ‘all my friends’;and by opting for the last option, ‘only selected friends’, you can exclude even those who you don’t think should see your photographs.
(d) Now, just click on the tab at the bottom, which reads ‘Create’, and hurrah! The album is created.
Step 4: Where are the photos? Let’s now come to the photos.
(e) The new screen that your monitor displays holds a tab ‘Add Photos’. Yes, now just click on the tab and it will take you into your computer.
(f) There you will find a list of pictures that are already stored in your computer. All you have to do is to select the photographs you wish to add to your Orkut account (this process is called ‘uploading’). You can choose as many photographs as you wish.
(g) Once chosen, the photographs are listed in a column at the bottom of which lies another tab ‘Upload Photos’. Yes, you guessed it right. Just click on it!
(h) The uploading will begin. It may take from a couple of seconds to several minutes, depending upon the internet connection and the amount of data (number of photographs) to be transferred.
Step 5
(i) Once the uploading is done, a the monitor will display a new screen with the photographs placed one over the another and each photograph with three options listed against each: ‘an empty box’, ‘album cover’ and ‘delete’.
(j) Write in the empty box, what you want to say about that particular photo, select the ‘album cover’ option for the photograph you like the most, and in case there is a change of mind, you can even remove some or all of the photos by choosing the appropriate ‘delete’, option.
Step 6
It is already done! Just view the album!
How to save pictures from locked album
The security system in place on the Orkut doesn’t allow us to do this but, as it is said, nothing is impossible, so there are ways to go about it in spite of the security system in it doing its work.
Method 1 – Just drag the picture to your desktop
Method 2 –
The right click on the mouse won’t work so don’t need trying that. Let’s see how it can be done:
Step 1:
Open the Orkut account and navigate to album photo on your browser.
Step 2:
There is a button on your keyboard, adjacent to the scroll lock, and the button reads ` Print Screen Sys Rq’. Just click on it.
Step 3
Now, go to the` Start Menu`, open `all programs’, followed by `accessories’ and then turn on the `paint’ option.
Step 4
Press Ctrl + V and eureka! The image is in your paint. You can edit it, you can save it, and you can do anything with it!
How to force logout your friend?
Below is a link and you just you have to paste that link in your friend’s scrapbook. From then on, your friend will be logged out the moment he or one of his/her friends visits his/her scrapbook.

How to find out the e-mail address of an Orkut user?
Step 1: Go to the profile of the user in question!
Step 2: There you will see More option, it is just beneath the tab that reads Add as a Friend.
Step 3: Go for the Ignore User option and click on it.
Step 4: Release G talk and then opt for Settings option.
Step 5: Click on Blocked Users and your computer will show you all the blocked contacts. From that list of contacts you can find out the e-mail address of that person.
How to scare your friends by eluding them to believe that their Orkut profile is deleted?

How to add someone to the Orkut crush list?
Adding someone to your crush list means an indirect expression of your romantic expressions. These are for your personal use only. If you add someone to your crush-list and the same persons accepts your request, you will both receive a message indicating that there is a match. The rest is up to you!
But this option is only available if you have already filled your personal page. This is how it is done:
1. Navigate to a profile and click on More link from left sidebar
2. Click on add to crush list tab to add the person to your crush list
3. You will see a message once you have added the person successfully.
